WV Healing & Training Center

In July 2016, Light of Hope Ministries started the West Virginia Healing and Training Center in Shanks, West Virginia.
We bought 78 acres with various buildings, two ponds, a lot of trees, and space to roam.

When we first got here, the place had basically been abandoned. We had overgrown grass and piles of trash to deal with, but with lots of hard work from many people, many volunteers, it has become a very beautiful, peaceful place.

Today we have two women's dorm rooms, a men's dorm, three families' living quarters, a small woodworking shop, a garage, a three-bedroom apartment, a greenhouse, a barn, three RV spots, a pavilion, and walking trails all around. We have a pasture with a horse, a year-old calf, and chickens. We also have two dogs and a puppy that children happily entertain.

It is a safe place for people to get away and have some time to refocus and realign with their purpose in life.

What does it do for the clients?

It provides:

  • a safe place to heal and be restore

  • nature trails to meditate and connect with God

  • new hope and fresh vision

  • step-by-step mentoring and accountability

  • life-skills training

  • community interaction

  • a family atmosphere

How can the community get involved?

  • Prayer and intercession
  • Volunteering their services

The community involvement helps to restore the individuals and propel them into their destiny to become more effective in their society and community.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact Naomi King at 717-725-3243 to find out what current volunteer needs are. We often have needs for various types of construction, cooking, cleaning, canning, and much more. Do you have a skill that you like to use to bless others?
